Decking Solutions

Decking is a popular choice for gardens. It gives an alternative look and feel to paving to provide a softer element that can work well on its own or combined with contrasting surfaces. Decking has the advantage that it can overcome construction difficulties where the cost of paved areas could be prohibitive, such as gardens on a steep slope, close to water or on unstable ground.

Different decking to suit your project

There are many different types of material used to construct decks including, natural timber, Composite and coated aluminium.

Timber of many different types is commonly used but generally falls into two main categories; hardwood and softwood.

Softwood is very popular and generally cheaper and easier to work with, but will have a shorter life span. Although hardwoods are more expensive and slightly harder to work with, they are much denser and will last much longer. The exception to this rule is Western Red Cedar which although is a softwood, it has natural properties that extend its lifespan

There is also a large choice of composite decking on the market constructed using many different processes and materials including, recycled plastic, wood fibres and resinous substances combined to form very long lasting artificial timber with low maintenance and anti slip properties. They tend to be expensive and can have a slightly artificial look, but they will last much longer than timber if left untreated.

Powder coated aluminium decking is also available where very long lasting and zero fire risk is required.

Our decking projects are constructed to the highest quality with treated timber sub frames supported by posts that are always concreted into place. Composite sub frames are also available to be used with either timber or composite decking that will last a lot longer than timber. Weed suppressing fabric is a must and deck boards are screwed into place rather than nailed. We are also able to install steps, balustrades of various types and recessed lighting as required

Fencing Options

Fencing of some description is usually required in most gardens to define and secure boundaries, but can also be used to separate areas within gardens for practical or aesthetic purposes.

We are often required to install new fences as part of a garden design or in addition to a new feature in a garden, but we also provide fencing installation as a service on its own.

Whether you require the installation of new gates or fences in a range of styles or just a repair, we will be able to talk you through the advantages and costs of the various options available.

Quality Installation!

Fencing can be poorly installed with thin timber posts, flimsy panels, no concrete to secure posts and a poor finish with posts protruding too far above the panels or the panels not finished at an even height or in a wonky line.
At Garden Creations, we use only the best quality fencing with thick timber or concrete posts which are always concreted into place and we take care to complete the work to the best aesthetic finish.
